Prezi AI
Prezi rebuilt its product AI-first. Slides are generated and edited through chat, and the presentation still moves with the animated camera Prezi is known for. I designed the core experience of that product and the surfaces that make it a business: sign-up, paywalls, the AI credit system, and the live engagement features that give people a reason to pay.
Why Prezi started over
Prezi has been around since 2009. Its signature product runs on proprietary rendering technology, and years of accumulated decisions made every change slow.
When AI arrived, that stack became the bottleneck. Integrating LLMs into a proprietary format meant fighting the engine, and fast prototyping was not possible. LLMs are also simply better at HTML. It is the format they know best.
So the company started a new app. Slides are generated as HTML through chat, and the presentation keeps the thing Prezi is famous for: the animated camera that moves through a scene instead of flipping pages. The best of both.
What I worked on
Monetization surfaces and the AI credit system
I designed the paywall and upgrade moments to land where intent is highest and read as an offer, not a block. The piece I'm most proud of is the AI credit system: a way to meter AI usage that keeps the cost legible and the limits fair.
Design-system foundation
I rebuilt Prezi's marketing design system from scratch (type scale, semantic color tokens, spacing, core components), then contributed the production code so the system stays in sync with what ships.
Slide generation and editing through chat
I designed the core experience of the new product: describing what you need in chat and getting a themed, editable presentation back. That includes the prompts behind each visual theme. I designed and evaluated them, and built tests to compare slide-generation performance across LLM models (GPT-4 mini, GPT-5 mini, Gemini 3 Flash).
Interactive engagement: polls and Q&A
I designed the polls and Q&A features that let a presenter run a live, interactive session: the creation side in the editor and the audience side answering live. Both a paid-plan feature and part of the moat. Poll is live in an A/B test; Q&A is in development.
Blog migration and agentic skills
Designed, migrated, and rebuilt the company blog from WordPress to the Eleventy static-site generator for performance, maintainability, SEO, and integration with AI tools. Tailored the repository for non-engineers by writing a readme file and creating a blog publishing skill for coding agents.
Outcome
By the time I left, the new product was generating and editing presentations through chat, the paywalls and the AI credit system were live, polls had shipped to a live A/B test, and the design system was in production across the marketing site and the new product surfaces. The design-system foundation made every UI effort after it faster and left the product more consistent and polished.
