Two or three years ago, I decided to build a blog to write and share ideas. Due to my past detrimental strife for perfectionism, I spent months refining it and adding features that were aesthetic and did not add value to the result. As a consequence, I ended up writing a few articles and stopped. I learned several things and made things differently.

Many times I used to be in a position where I would react in a certain negative way only to understand later that I misjudged the situation and should have acted differently. The problem is that the mere experience would not let me act differently. It would be all the same: the reaction is so powerful that it overshadows the experience. Understanding the underlying sources of my false response and using a mental model helped me to avoid and resolve conflicts easier.

I have always been wondering what makes people do what they have to despite their mood, lack of sleep, or other problems. Is it discipline, motivation, or inspiration? Do we need it to accomplish our goals? Inspiration feels good, but it is not consistent to rely on it. Instead, we should focus on discipline and deal with the boring part of an activity or task.

Self-help or other non-fiction books seem helpful. But in reality, they don't have a practical impact. People read them, get inspired a little, then the feeling wears off and they move to read another one. It seems that people chase pain killers instead of finding the root cause of the problem and dealing with it once and for all.

Creativity is what makes something unique. Whether it is composing music or engineering a rocket, a creative solution is not only satisfying but most importantly can make a breakthrough, bring something novel and push things further.

For a long time, I used to have a disturbing feeling of wasting time and not keeping up with the progress I would like to have. It was the feeling of missed opportunities and the skills I wanted to acquire. It is the time anxiety that can be both a useful and harmful feeling. Most of us have it for one or another reason. I would like to share a strategy and actionable steps to understand it and benefit from it.
